Print Play Money
There are a variety of ideas where you can print play money to
use in
real life, fun situations for kids. Using pretend money gives kids
practice with counting, handling and understanding the importance of
money in everyday life. While real money could be used instead, play
money can be reprinted when it gets lost or damaged. As children get
older however, play money will no longer hold their interest and real
money will in real situations have to be used instead.
We've included here several ideas on how to use printable fake money
with your kids and play money and checks you can download and print
off.
What to do with printable play money?
Allowance
For younger children you can give them an allowance in play money that
they can turn in for something else. You can create a prize box and
fill it with candy, small toys, stickers, etc. They in turn can use
their play money to buy prizes.
Restaurant
With your kids help, create a menu with prices for each item. Let them
order dinner from the menu and pay the bill with play money just like
they were really at a restaurant.
Shop
Gather and set up items from around the house and create a shop. A
grocery shop, toy shop or clothing shop all work well for pretend play.
You'll need one cashier and at least one shopper. This is great
practice for adding up money and counting change.
Bank
Set up a teller station with printed pretend money. Have one child be a
teller and another come to the bank to write a check for money or to
ask for money taken from their "account." Give each child a turn being
the teller and counting out the money for the other.
Reward good behavior
When children exhibit good behavior, reward him or her with play money.
When they exhibit bad behavior, make them pay a fine. At the end of the
week hold an auction for prizes and goodies. This will teach them that
better behavior brings bigger rewards.
Have a home movie night or party
Rent a movie for a home movie night or have a movie party and use
pretend money. Give the children and adults play money and let them buy
their ticket, popcorn, treats and drink.
Create a juke box
Pick out a bunch of your kids favorite songs and allow them to use play
money to listen to the songs they want just like a juke box.
